Product Details: |
Now, a loom designed for those who wish to weave larger size rugs. This loom will accommodate a weaving up to approximately 18" x 24". It is adjustable and has the same spring tension system as the Mini and Maxi looms. To warp, you turn the loom horizontal then return the loom to a vertical position to weave. The peg bar on this loom enables you to warp up at 8 eip. The loom comes with shed and heddle sticks, batten and Weaving The Navajo Way book. I do not recommend this loom for beginning weavers. Instead, try the Mini or Maxi loom. Available by special request only.
The Cactus Flower Miniature Loom was designed by Caroline Spurgeon, who also wrote the accompanying booklet, Weaving The Navajo Way, How To Create Rugs, Miniatures and More! She builds each loom by hand of select hardwoods. The peg bars are milled to her specification by an Albuquerque firm. Each loom is individually made, therefore minor differences may be evident as different woods dictate the end result. Each loom is unconditionally guaranteed for one year.
The Maxi loom came about due to requests for a larger loom. It performs like the mini, but allows a larger weaving size. Both looms are considered lap looms and work best when the weaver is seated, the loom in her lap, and leaned against a table or such. Excellent results are also obtained by leaning it against the dashboard (if you weave in the car) or the back of a seat in an airplane. Do not try to work with them in the horizontal position as you will develop broken-back syndrome!
Weavers everywhere are finding the joy of Navajo style weaving without the tedium of the warping process. You will find projects on the mini loom go fast and enable you to learn the same techniques used on full-size Navajo style rugs.
