Babe Spinning Wheels

The motto here is "function over form." While Babe Spinning Wheels are indeed made of plumbing pipe, they all work very well. The idea is that you can enter the world of spinning for almost nothing; if you like the fun, then moving up to a more traditional wheel may be in your future.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED WITH A BABE SPINNING WHEEL:

carded fiber (or raw fleece and handcards)
3 or more bobbins
niddy noddy or skeinwinder
Lazy Kate, preferably tensioned (if not with wheel)
book ("Hands on Spinning") or Video (“Spinning Wool - Basics and Beyond”)

(Nice to have, in ranked order: 1. fine flyer, jumbo flyer, spinning stool or chair, swift and either ballwinder or nostepinne; 2. spinning gauge, extra bobbins, lace flyer.)

Babe Production

Both single treadle and double treadle are available. It is also drilled so you can have the Lazy Kate on the right or left side of the base frame.

Babe Pinkie

This wheel was designed for the smaller person or child. Like all Babe wheels, it is made of PVC pipe. This is so light you can lift it with your pinkie!Available in single or double treadle.

Babe Pedal Pusher

Get the physical benefits of walking while you spin. All new, the Pedal Pusher could help improve circulation and help relieve pain and stimulate leg muscles. It has a support for the maiden which makes it sturdier and is available in a white frame.

Babe Fiberstarter

This is the original, contemporary spinning wheel (machine) made with furniture PVC, weighing only a little over 7 1/2 pounds. Comes as a complete kit and is very light weight, easy to carry, very portable and easy to pack in a suitcase.

Babe Big River

This wheel comes with a treadle! If you like High Speed and Long Draw this is a great wheel. Good for Cotton and Silk spinning. The wheel features a 12" stainless steel spindle and a large 35" wheel. You can use the smaller 22" black wheel with an optional drive band.

Babe Walking Wheel

This is really a fun and exciting spinning wheel. The wheel is made with the use of a wheel chair wheel and therefore has ball bearings to turn on. The wheel has a built on extension so that it is 36" in diameter.

Babe NW Flyer Electric Wheel

Another winner from "Babe"! This table-top electric spinner comes with a foot controller that allows you to start out slowly and increase your speed after you get the hang of it. The foot controller has an adjusting screw which you can set so that you can go back to the speed you were at before you stopped.

Babe Little Spider

Babe's "Little Spider" (or Liten Spindel in Swedish) is extremely portable. Simply set it on a table or on the floor to operate. Small enough to be easily stowed away when not in use. Great for cotton, wool, silk and many other fibers!
