In Country Knits the authors wanted to take a fresh, contemporary look at traditional handknits, and with this in mind they have put together a collection of designs with a country theme ranging from hard-wearing, sporty Arans to delicate, embroidered cardigans.
They have used classic stitches and patterning in Guernsey sweaters, soft Fair Isles and Norwegian-style jackets, but have combined them with fashion shapes that are simple and generous or neat and fitted. There are tapestry-look and sampler designs inspired by the rich fabrics and rugs of country house interiors; warm wraps and jackets for country weekending. Natural yarns have been used throughout, except where impractical, and the patterns have been sized to include men and children where possible.
