Byways in Handweaving
Author: Mary Meigs Atwater
This book was first printed in 1951 by the author who first produced the Shuttle-craft Guild in 1914. It addresses the author's interest in warp and weft manipulation and fabric design. The techniques described in the book are ancient, leading back beyond the dawn of his; few have been adequately described elsewhere; none require large or elaborate equipment, some none at all.
Perhaps the table of contents presents the content best: card weaving, inkle weaving, twined weaving, braiding and knotting, plaiting, a group of belt-weaves, four Guatemalan belt-weaves and more. An interesting book.
Softcover, 128 pages, black and white pictures.
