"The Knitters Loom is a very attractive rigid heddle loom choice as it is foldable/portable, comes with a carrying/storage bag, and the wood is finished/lacquered (even the extra rigid heddles for this loom are lacquered). The tint of the lacquer is light so the beauty of the wood really comes through. The workmanship of the loom along with the beauty of the wood and the design of the loom is stunning. The loom comes with a manual ""Learn to weave on the Knitters Loom"" where every step-by-step instruction has a color photo showing how the step is done. Also included is an Ashford catalog and Ashford's yearly magazine ""The Wheel"". At first it felt a bit awkward when lifting the back of the loom in the ""bent"" position . . . moving the L-shaped blocks into the notch (that positions the loom at the correct angle), keeping the reed support block in the upright position, and holding the back of the loom in the highest position while tightening the side knobs on the side. After doing this a few times, it felt much easier and natural. If I could make two recommendations to Ashford to improve this loom: 1) increase the size of the side knob and/or increase the gripping texture of the side knob to make it easier to grip and turn the knobs. 2) increase the thickness/strength of the warp sticks that attach the warp sticks to the rollers. After my first project, there were areas at the greatest stress points that turned white - indicating some weakening in the plastic. I have done six projects on the 20 inch Knitters Loom in quick succession. I can now say I am quite happily ""hooked"" on weaving."
