Finished - A double treadle wheel from Ashford that was introduced for Fall-Winter 1997. It makes an excellent beginner wheel due to its affordable price.
Features include: Double Treadle design allows for easy stopping/starting and changing wheel direction while leaving hands free. Treadles are hinged to allow heel-toe action. Simple scotch tension system and polycord, stretchy drive band. Rear wheel mounting allows for easy band changing.
The Kiwi wheel has two ratios: 5.5:1 and 8:1. Flyer orifice is 10 mm (a little over 3/8 inch). Large solid drive wheel that is 17.5 inches in diameter allows for good momentum and smooth, unhurried treadling. Easy assembly, takes just a few minutes with an allen wrench (supplied). Centrally located flyer allows for use by either right-handed or left-handed spinners. Sturdy construction. Lightweight and easy to carry. The wheel itself is made of MDF, a high density engineered wood product that has proven to be very durable and warp resistant; it stains very well. The Kiwi weighs 11 pounds and is available unfinished or with a clear lacquer finish.Three bobbins and separate Lazy Kate are included with the kit. Free shipping within continental US.
