The Woolery was started in 1981 in Genoa, NY by the Horchlers. We started as a small farm offering wool (from sheep on the Horchlers farm), basic supplies and spinning lessons. We called ourselves "Woolery Farm". A few years after starting,  we opened the "Fingerlakes  Woolen Mill" but the mill was sold when, in 2001, The Woolery expanded and moved to Murfreesboro, North Carolina.  In 2009 The Woolery was purchased by Chris & Nancy, expanded again and moved to historic Frankfort, Kentucky. Frankfort is more assessable to fiber folks who travel and want to visit. Our shop in Frankfort is just 10-15 minutes from the crossroads of I-75 and I-64 as well as being next to the UPS International shipping hub (Louisville).  Not to mention this is our hometown!

Chris and Nancy Miller, the owners, bring years of experience as well as a passion for spinning weaving and knitting to The Woolery. They absolutely love fiber arts and love the people involved; the people mean the most to them. They have been married for 27 years and have two sons, a grand-baby and a character named Christian who thinks he is human but is really a “Snoodle”.

We are very excited to relocate the business to an area that is much more accessible to the public. We have customers from all over the world and at least once a day we see someone who makes a special trip or makes a detour from their travels to come and visit or shop. We are known for our friendly, fast and excellent customer service.

Over the years we have been blessed to have the opportunity develop special relationships and friends in the fiber arts community.  We love getting to know our customers. We get to participate in their learning experience and watch them grow. Seeing new people come and embrace the crafts is the ultimate for us!

We have expanded our retail operations and we offer many classes, training and an outlet for fiber artists to showcase and sell their work.
We are always looking for new products to offer to our customers. We look for unique, interesting, practical and/or affordable products. If you have something that may be of interest, please give us a shout.

We have several experienced knitters, weavers, spinners, felters and rug hookers on staff as well as many affiliates who can answer your questions and provide classes and training and we love to support guilds and fiber festivals. We welcome questions and we consider this to be part of our service to the fiber arts community.

If you are one of our longtime customers, we appreciate your business and patronage. If you are a new customer, thank you for the opportunity to earn your business. We appreciate all of you and look forward to serving your fiber art needs for many years to come!

With Joy!
