Rug Hooking

- backing material (such as Scottish Burlap)
- strips of cloth or yarns or lengths of ribbon
- frame or hoop to hold your work
- rug hook(s)
- how-to-books:“The Rug Hook Book” or “The Art of Rug Hooking”; and/or DVD “Nantucket Rug Hooking” or Video "Hooking and Braiding"
Nice to have: a Cutting machine with various cutter heads; punch needles.

Rug Punching
This is a faster method of making a rug, or combine it with rug hooking! It requires medium to heavy yarns and the same equipment as rug hooking. You will be using punch needles instead of hooks. Locker Hooking
Here is another craft requiring the use of fleece, carded fibers or pencil roving. Much faster than latch hooking, the locker hooking technique can be used to make garments, rugs, wall hangings, chair pads, saddle blankets, fancy pillows and more!
