Socks for Sandals and Clogs

Author: Anna Zilboorg

Socks for Sandals and Clogs first appeared as a poster of stellar socks designed to be seen. The unique feature of these variously patterned socks was emphasis on heels which show prominently in clogs and sandals. Since I hoped many would want to make as well as look at these socks, I wrote a book of instructions to accompany the poster.

This new edition combines the poster socks and instructions into a single book. Full portraits of the socks that appeared in the poster will be found in the inner section.

And there is more in this new edition. New free-sole socks are now part of Socks for Sandals and Clogs. I am not the first to conceive socks that are knit so that the whole sole or any part of it can be removed and re-knit leaving the rest
of the sock intact. Elizabeth Zimmerman had a unique method (see The Knitter's Almanac). I was interested not only in easy renewal of worn-out soles, but also the potential for using a rugged yarn in the soles of socks otherwise knit of fine yarn. May the method I've described here please the fingers and delight the sole.
