I really love inventing new knitwear designs and choosing colours to make them in. Designing all the animal knits for this book has been great fun and I hope that you will enjoy knitting them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
There are 26 designs for babies and children up to 6 years old to choose from in this book, ranging from funky cow-print and tiger-stripe patterned garments to contemporary versions of classic Fair Isle designs. I have designed a collection of sweaters, jackets, hats, scarves, bootees, bags, cushions, blankets and two knitted toys - so I hope that there is something to appeal to everyone.
I have some personal favourites from the collection the sweet baby bootees (page 10), the bold and bright butterfly sweater (page 20), and the ladybird hat (page 48), are three designs that l particularly like. I also loved the cushions (pages 15 and 46), so much that they are now have permanent places on my sofa. Toby, my two-year-old son, is mad about animals, particularly cows, so his favourites are the cow-print scarf and hat (page 41), and the cow-print jacket (page 42).
